When Hearts Become Heavy

“Therefore repent and turn back, that your sins may be wiped out so that seasons of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.” Act 3:19

Heavenly Father, I come before you with a contrite and heavy heart. Cupped within my clinched fists I harbor my sin. I have named it “turn away.”

Forgive me for turning away from you. Restore the blessed sweetness of your face and let it shine upon me and the land upon which I journey and draw my belonging.

Let the waters of your Spirit fall upon this humble ground. Let your precious earth give up her fruitful blessings of growth.

Let the herds and creatures of the fields and the sheep and lambs of your pasture become full and refreshed.

Wipe away the sin that has created a barrier between us. Let your seasons of refreshing come swiftly. So, we may turn and bless others by the power of your Holy Spirit.

Abba,

Thank You that Your presence is in Yvette's ending and now in her beginning. Thank You that though she has and may yet again turn, You do not. Thank you that your love for her is unfailing. Lord. How may the body of Christ assist You in calling forth Your light in Yvette's life ... how may i? As You give me enough light for the next step, allow me to walk it out beside her. In the name of Your beloved Son, the Lord Jesus Christ I pray.

Father so many times I to turn away, yet through your mercy and grace you are constantly wooing my spirit back towards yours. God your goodness overwhelms me. I agree with Yvette, "Wipe away the sin that has created a barrier between us. Let your seasons of refreshing come swiftly. So, we may turn and bless others by the power of your Holy Spirit." Let us be a people who take what has been given through your Son's obedience, and in return pour it out onto others who are thirsty for truth and love. Jesus thank you that we can pray in Your name. Amen.
